Volunteer of the Month - Morgan Schetzel
For more than two years, Morgan has been a dedicated member of the Hobe Sound Nature Center volunteer family. We've watched her grow into a confident, dependable leader who is always willing to lend a helping hand. From caring for our ambassador animals and assisting with administrative tasks to training new volunteers and supporting our Sea Turtle Walks, Morgan's enthusiasm and commitment shine in everything she does.
Morgan's passion for marine conservation began after seeing her very first loggerhead sea turtle on one of our Sea Turtle Walks. That unforgettable experience inspired her dream of becoming a marine biologist and studying sea turtles. Outside of the Nature Center, Morgan is a five-time National Champion and two-time Grand Champion cheerleader.
How long have you been volunteering at the Nature Center?
I've been volunteering at the Nature Center for a little over two years.
What inspired you to become a volunteer at the Nature Center?
I was inspired to begin volunteering at the Nature Center to make new friends and because working with reptiles has always been my dream.
What's one of your favorite memories from volunteering?
One of my favorite memories from volunteering is going on my first Sea Turtle Walk and Nest Quest with the Nature Center.
If you could spend a day as one of our ambassador animals, which one would you choose, and why?
I'd choose to spend a day as Opal, our Virginia Opossum, because even though she is blind, she is very smart and funny.
