A Summer to Remember
From sea turtles under the stars to hands-on wildlife discoveries, Summer 2026 was filled with opportunities to learn, explore, and connect with Florida's incredible ecosystems.
This summer, Hobe Sound Nature Center welcomed campers, families, students, and community members for a season filled with wildlife encounters, conservation education, and unforgettable experiences. From the beach to the water, our programs brought people closer to the wildlife and habitats we work to protect.
🐢 Sea Turtle Walks
Summer nights brought visitors to the beach for one of Florida's most incredible wildlife experiences: watching a sea turtle come ashore to nest.
Throughout the season, our Sea Turtle Walks gave participants the opportunity to learn about sea turtle biology, nesting behavior, and conservation while experiencing these remarkable animals in their natural habitat.
🌞 Summer Camp
Our Summer Nature Campers and Jr. Naturalists spent their days getting curious, asking questions, exploring the outdoors, and discovering the incredible wildlife found throughout Florida.
From sharks and other marine life to our wildlife ambassadors and the ecosystems around them, campers experienced science through hands-on activities and exploration. Each day was an opportunity to turn curiosity into conservation.
🔎 Nest Quest
This summer also marked the launch of Nest Quest, our newest sea turtle conservation experience.
Through this pop-up program, participants became citizen scientists during real sea turtle nest excavations. They collected real data, examined what remained inside the nest, and learned how scientists use that information to better understand nesting success.
Every nest tells a different story, making each Nest Quest experience a unique opportunity to observe, connect, and discover.
🚤 Waterway Warriors
For the second year, Hobe Sound Nature Center partnered with Chapman School of Seamanship for Waterway Warriors, an educational program designed to prepare Florida's next generation of boaters to become responsible stewards of our waterways.
Through the program, students explored the importance of wildlife conservation and learned how responsible boating practices and environmental stewardship can positively impact Florida's marine ecosystems.
💚 Thank You for an Unforgettable Summer
None of these experiences would be possible without the people who make them happen. Thank you to every camper, family, Sea Turtle Walk participant, student, volunteer, partner, and supporter who spent part of their summer with us.
