Investing in Sea Turtle Conservation

Hobe Sound Nature Center Wildlife Educator, Yasmeen Bruno

Hobe Sound Nature Center Wildlife Educator Yasmeen Bruno attended the 29th Annual Florida Marine Turtle Permit Holder Meeting hosted by FWCC.

Wildlife Educator, Yasmeen Bruno proudly represented Hobe Sound Nature Center at the 29th Annual Florida Marine Turtle Permit Holder Meeting (FMTPHM), hosted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Wildlife Alert on February 27–28, 2026.

This annual meeting honors the dedicated Marine Turtle Permit Holders who work tirelessly to monitor, protect, and document Florida’s nesting sea turtles. Throughout the two-day event, FWC staff shared updates on statewide nesting data, research findings, conservation challenges, and policy developments. Permit holders and partner organizations also presented recent projects and fieldwork accomplishments advancing marine turtle science and conservation across Florida.

As a permitted participant in marine turtle conservation activities, Yasmeen’s attendance ensures that HSNC remains aligned with the most current research, best practices, and regulatory updates. This knowledge directly supports our local turtle walk programs, hatch success evaluations, and public education efforts here at the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. Staying engaged at the state level strengthens our ability to protect sea turtles locally.
