Bringing Marine Science Back to Our Community: FMSEA Conference Recap
In April, our Education Team Managers, Lindsey and Yasmeen, attended the 2026 Florida Marine Science Educators Association (FMSEA) Conference in Fort Pierce. FMSEA, founded in 1968, is a nonprofit professional association of individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing marine education across Florida.
The conference brought together educators, researchers, and conservation professionals from across the state to share ideas, explore new teaching strategies, and participate in hands-on field experiences. Lindsey and Yasmeen also attended professional development workshops and collaborative sessions focused on marine conservation and engaging our community in meaningful ways.
A special thank you to FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute for hosting this year’s conference and providing many of the immersive field trip opportunities that made the experience so impactful.
Lindsey and Yasmeen are excited to bring back new ideas and inspiration to continue growing our education programs here at Hobe Sound Nature Center.
