What you do in your landscape matters. From the fertilizers you apply to the water you use, your gardening choices can have an impact on land, water, wildlife, and the overall well-being of Florida’s residents. The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program is here to help you learn how to have healthy and beautiful landscapes that protect Florida’s natural resources by following nine science-based principles.
The Hobe Sound Nature Center in conjunction with the Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches will host a lecture titled The Planets in "Plane" View. Following an indoor presentation at 6 PM, guests will go outside to view the night sky through telescopes.
Discover the fascinating research taking place across Florida to better understand sea turtle life and their interactions with the environment. Learn how scientists conduct in-water assessments and contribute valuable data that helps foster marine and coastal conservation efforts.
Discover how ORCA applies cutting-edge science to address critical environmental challenges, from monitoring water quality to mapping pollution. Then, dive into the transformative role of ORCA's citizen science program, where volunteers play an essential part in restoring the Indian River Lagoon and beyond.
Join us as we explore how studying dolphins' behavior, diet, and physiology can uncover critical information about environmental changes, such as climate shifts, toxic algal blooms, and contamination from human activity. By monitoring dolphin populations, scientists gain a better understanding of the broader challenges facing marine environments, emphasizing the importance of conserving these charismatic animals to ensure the health of the oceans and the communities that depend on them.
Join artist and Photographer Jeff Biege in a relaxed discussion about the intersection of conservation/wildlife photography and art. A slide show presentation will feature beautiful images of local wildlife from around the state of Florida. Every image has a story!
