SPEAKER: Missy Weiss

Missy Weiss is a native New Yorker whose love for nature and the sea began at an early age. Her academic journey has led her to receive her M.S. in Biological Oceanography at Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences and a B.S. in Marine Science at Long Island University’s Southampton College. Additionally, she received graduate level certification at Dowling College specializing in Secondary Education in Biological. Professionally, Missy has experience in marine science research, environmental education, and citizen science program development. Her role as ORCA’s Director of Citizen Science and Education allows her to combine these areas of interest and experience to provide meaningful opportunities for citizen scientists to participate in ORCA’s applied science research.
