Volunteer of the Month - Jim Mandeville

Congratulations to Jim!!

Jim began his photography career in Palm Beach in 1976. Throughout his career, he built a successful wedding and portrait business and also worked in the golf industry with the Nicklaus companies. He retired in 2024 and has since shifted his focus to wildlife photography.

At the Hobe Sound Nature Center, Jim has graciously volunteered his time to care for our resident animals, while also capturing photos of them, our programs, and our beautiful refuge. He has generously donated wildlife prints for our office space, auctions, and gift shop!

Be sure to stop by the Owl's Roost gift shop to view and purchase one of Jim's incredible prints and support our programs. If you happen to see Jim, please thank him for his dedication and generosity!

Volunteer Q&A with Thierry:

How long have you been volunteering at the Nature Center?

I started volunteering in 2024.

What made you want to start volunteering at the Nature Center?

I retired in 2024 and wanted to give some of my time to the community and Hobe Sound.

What does the Nature Center mean to you?

The Nature Center is a local Hobe Sound place where families can enjoy some our surrounding wildlife.

What is your favorite part about volunteering at the Nature Center?

My favorite part about the Nature Center is the people that work there and their passion for what they do for Hobe Sound, the Nature Center and especially the animals. It's a friendly place to give my time and I love interacting with the animals by giving them care.
