Volunteer of the Month Patrick Dolan

How long have you been volunteering at the Nature Center?

I’ve been a volunteer for about one year, and I very much look forward to my time there. I look forward to helping every week!

What made you want to start volunteering at the Nature Center?

 A good friend of mine started to volunteer at the Nature Center and told me he was having a great time as a docent. I was curious; so, I went up one afternoon to check it out. It didn’t take long to witness the comradery between the staff and volunteers. I was immediately hooked and submitted my application!  

What does the nature center mean to you? 

 Every week is a new adventure, between interacting with the guests and caring for the animals. I’m  always learning something new about Florida’s unique habitats and wildlife, and our guests are so inquisitive and eager to learn new things.

What is your favorite part about volunteering at the Nature Center?

That’s a tough question! I love working with the staff, the animals, and the guests. The charm of the Nature Center is that it’s never stagnant, and every day is an opportunity to learn something new. You should volunteer. I promise you’ll have as much fun as I am having!
